The Short Format
Thirty seconds to hook them
On a vertical screen, you get three seconds, sometimes less. Starting from a real Archives hook, measured frame by frame, the module shows how to build the first thirty seconds of a short, then publish it.
The sequence
| Shot | Chapter | What you do there |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Anatomy of a short | The five opening beats |
| 02 | The first three seconds | Why it all happens there |
| 03 | Holding thirty seconds | Relaunches and twists |
| 04 | The first 80 words | Writing for the ear |
| 05 | Rhythm | Selecting, cutting, mixing |
| — | The workshop | Interlude: the Lézargus hook, frame by frame |
| 06 | Readable without sound | The sound-off test |
| 07 | Hands-on | Your first short, published |
What you will be able to do
Every rule in the module states its level of proof: official documentation, validated in production on the Archives, observed by creators, or still to be tested.
The first thirty seconds
Build them in five beats, from the hook to the hand-off into the rest of the short.
The hook
Write and edit a three-shot opening that runs under four seconds.
Retention
Keep viewers watching with the open question, the relaunches and the first twist.
The edit
Select and cut your shots with the studio's grid and its three quality gates.
Delivery
A short that makes sense with the sound off, mixed at −14 LUFS, labelled as AI and ready to publish.
